After some years, we were able once again to secure some copies of the live concert CD from Mel's tour of Japan in 1973 with his group, The Dynamics. The group consisted of two other previous Ventures' members (as of that time) - John Durrill on keyboards, and Gerry McGee (who, of course, rejoined The Ventures in 1985). Interestingly enough, Bob Spalding was the rhythm player with the group and we all know where he ended up! The only non-Ventures' related group member was Bill Lincoln on bass (anyone know how to contact him?)
The 20-song set contains some Ventures material, including the well-known Japanese hits that were co-written by Mel, John and Gerry, together wiith Don Wilson and Bob Bogle: Nagasaki Memories is rarely performed these days, but was also popular at the time in Japan. Many of the other songs reflect the hits of the period - Daniel, Killing Me Softly, I Can See Clearly, etc. - and show the diverse abilities of the 5-man group.
We have a limited number of copies so, if you are interested, snap them up now. We don't know when we will be able to get more.
